Accomplishments

We've made some big accomplishments in our house the past few weeks. We've been working with Gabryle on getting him potty trained and I have to say that it is going very well now!

He at first was hesitant about going through potty training but I am proud of how well he is doing. He can go now all day with no more than 1 accident if even that. He has gone the past 2 days with no accident in his big boy clothes. He makes sure to tell me when he has to go and then runs to the bathroom. He still uses a diaper for bedtime at night and during nap time but besides that he doesn't use them.

We will also be getting him a big boy bed soon, which we have started to look for. He has already decided that he would like Agent P from Phineas and Ferb bedding set. I didn't realize that it would be difficult to locate, so its good that I have started looking early! I found a set the other day and was crazy and didn't bookmark the page I found it on. We even found you can get a stuffed Perry the Platypus and he thought that was the coolest thing so we might have to get him one of those too when we get him his big bed. It's hard to believe he's already big enough to be ready to get out of his toddler bed! Kids grow up way to fast!!!!

Break is over.

Christmas is over and New Years Day has passed. School resumed today for the girls, and we are back into our normal daily routine. I kinda of wish I had till Monday to sleep in more and not be up at 6:30 but oh well. The girls were glad to be back at school this morning. Kylie on the way to the bus stop told me of how she and Miranda will play at recess and sit and talk all the way to school on the bus today.

Gabryle ate breakfast after I got back and the first thing after that he wanted to do is play with his big Thomas train set Gamma and Tim got him for Christmas this year. I put it together, he started it up and had fun watching Molly get run into by the train since she was sitting on the edge of the track. It just grazed it her but she sure did jump and give Gabryle a good laugh. After a little bit he then put that track up and then pulled out his other Thomas track sets and we hooked them all together.

He seems glad to have his normal days with just me and him at home back. He helped tape up some boxes for the Salvation Army and then helped me get them in the car. We drove them over and dropped them off and came back home and now he is just relaxing. I'm sure the last half of the school year will be just as busy as the first, and the girls will enjoy every minute of it. I think Kenzie is looking forward to the spring when she can sign up again for t-ball and play again this summer. I'm not sure if Kylie will want to play yet, but I think she might enjoy it. I do know if she can find a summer cheerleader camp she would love that!

BIRTHDAY

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GABRYLE!!!

Nana's visit and Gabryle's Birthday Party

We all had a great visit with my Mom yesterday and today. The kids were so excited and had a great time getting to visit with Nana. We grilled burgers last night and played UNO till bedtime. We then spent today kind of being lazy around the house before the party since it has rained all day. Mackenzie, Kylie, Nana and I all went and got some nail polish and colored our nails earlier while we ate lunch and then later had the party.

Gabryle also had his birthday party today and I think he had a great time. It was also a good thing we decided to just have his party indoors since it has ended up raining almost all day so far! Still hard to believe he will be 3 on Monday! 

He got a lot of clothes and toys today and he seems to like them all. He's actually already wearing his new pajama bottoms he got and his Lightning McQueen house shoes. We found him a neat hot wheels cake and he LOVED it! I have some pictures posted below!

Waiting for sisters

Since Kylie this year is able to ride the bus it seems Gabryle's favorite time of the day is in the afternoon. He and I walk up to the neighborhoods bus stop and wait for the girls to get home.
Every afternoon he make sure to tell molly to stay in the house and we then leave. The bus stops by the landlords office and we wait either sitting on the steps or sitting by a large planter under the tree. No matter which place we sit he finds a big stick and pals in the diet and telling dogs to stop barking across the road.
Once Gabryle hears the bus he starts jumping and gets even more excited. He waits with me as the kids get off and once he sees Mackenzie and she is close he runs and gives her the biggest hug ever. We then walk home, Mackenzie and Gabryle walk in front of me and Kylie and he makes sure that he beats all the girls home. In a few more years when Gabryle is in kindergarten he will be on the bus with the girls. I still have two more years before he can be in pre-k. They grow up so fast!!!

I have Monsters!!!

I've created a couple of monsters. There are three to be exact. Each of them have their own things they have become addicted too unfortunately. Not really addicted but very very interested in the different things they have become monsters about.

Mackenzie has gotten to be addicted to buying books. It really is a great thing to be addicted too, especially so young I think. We love the fact she loves reading now. She and I got to looking online this morning and found the Harry Potter series she has been wanting on sale for under fifty dollars. If you have priced this book series out, the cheapest we have found it for around town and other places on line like Barnes and Noble and Hastings have been listed for as little as 89.99.  That is the price for all seven books. I happened to be looking on the Box Tops for Education website this morning, entering yet again for the drawing they have to win 10000 box tops for your school and went over to the shop online section. It links you to the different companies that have agreed to give so many box tops per 10 dollars spent on their website. Scholastic Books is on the website and I clicked over to it and we found the Harry Potter series, along with the Fly Guy series she has gotten into reading. She hasn't made her final decision if she wants to buy the books but I think she is leaning more and more towards getting them.

Kylie has become fascinated with us curling her hair in soft foam curlers. She loves that we can curl her hair and it looks like Lindsey. Lindsey is a friend of hers from school who wore her hair curled almost every day to school last year. We've tried it a few ways and found with Kylie's hair, you don't use mouse when you roll it. They fall out faster than anything if you do! We ust make sure it is a little damp, not wet, but damp and roll it up before bedtime. She sleeps in them just fine and then we take them out after breakfast the next morning and she has the most beautiful soft curls. I think she also likes it becuase it also looks a little like Taylor Swift's hair when she has it curled in the ends. (She is a big Taylor Swift fan as of a few weeks ago.)

Gabryle has become fascinated with loose change. Pennies, quarters, dimes and nickels. We haven't bought him a piggy bank yet so he hasn't had a place to put the change he finds, so I took an old bottle that I cut a slit out for change I find in the dryer and let him have it. He was thrilled!!! He keeps his pennies and quarters that he has in it and has found it is fun to sit all day and take the coins out then put them back in. It also appears he loves to sit and just shake the plastic bottle with the coins in it. He loves it, I hate it.!He has learned though if there is a coin in the floor for some reason to grab it as soon as he sees it and puts it in his coin bottle. That's the rule for the kids. Who ever picks it up out of the floor gets to keep it in their piggy bank.

Maybe next week they will have new fascinations. We shall wait and see!!

BIRD!!!!

 Meet Da-Da! This little guy is a blue jay that has been visiting our porch for the past few days. Gabryle gave him or her its name. There are actually 2 of these birds that have been coming, but I honestly can't tell if I have both of the birds or just one of the birds in these photos.

Gabryle has learned the past couple of days, that when he sees the bird, he very quietly walks up to the door and watches. If he says something he usually whispers, and it is always "Da-Da" Why this is what he calls it I don't know, but it has stuck!

 He gets so excited when he sees this little guy! He gets upset when it stays gone for too long and always keeps an eye out for it. Today we tore a couple of pieces of  bread for the bird and it has come back off and on through out the afternoon and evening. Gabryle will watch it pick a piece of bread up, stick it in its feet and then take smaller pieces off of it.

I suppose we should get a bird feeder to set up on the porch so Gabryle can watch it and get some other birds to come up to the house. I know there are some Robins in our neighborhood. We have seen a couple of them. And of course we are having TONS of butterflies right now in town. The girls are loving watching the butterflies. We have had quite a bit in our neighborhood also.

Mackenzie's class has been learning about the life cycle of butterflies starting with the caterpillar. They have had 4 caterpillars in their classroom and have watched them go from the caterpillar into the chrysalis to the butterfly. She said the last two hatched today. One hatched while they were doing their practice spelling test, and the other one hatched during one of their recesses today. Once they are ready her class will release the butterflies out in the playground and let them fly off to wherever they decide to go.

I'll work on getting better pictures of Gabryle's birds over the next couple of days. As soon as I can get it I'll post it for you!!

A Boy and his Balloons

Balloons and a little boy can be a funny thing. Yesterday while it was nice in the morning Gabryle decided after we blew up some balloons for Kylie's party that it was fun to pop them. I have a couple of video clips of it for you. There are 2 total and I hope you enjoy them. What to do today..

 Spring break is over and every one in our house is back to our normal routines. The girls are in school, Jerrod is back at work, and Gabryle and I are busy with little things around the house. After the break it seems also to be a little harder to keep him busy. He has been wanting to go and go and go lately.

We have spent a lot of time outside lately since the weather has been perfect. That I think has become one of his favorite daily things to do. He loves to play in the water, help in the garden, and run around in the grass with no shoes on. He loves running around with no shoes on.

Yesterday as we watered the flowers after lunch, Gabryle decided we needed water in the wheelbarrow. I filled it up and continued to water the roses. He played in that water enough he emptied the wheelbarrow so I filled it up again. He then went and grabbed the small broom and dust pan we have and used it to play with in the water. Needless to say it kept him busy for a good twenty minutes. He was soaking wet by the time we went in and was not happy that I would not fill the wheelbarrow for a third time.

I also found having a band-aid on your finger is very entertaining also. He laid in the floor looking at and messing with his band-aid for quite a while. You would figure he would get tired of it and pull it off but he never took it off. He would sit there and poke at it put his finger up to his nose to smell it then laugh at it.

Later after picking the girls up and doing homework he then decided to help with dishes. I left a few cups in the sink so I could start dinner. The next thing I knew he had his little footstool he uses in the bathroom in by the kitchen sink. He had the measuring cup in one hand, and the sponge in the other and was "cleaning" to the best of his ability. At one point he pulled the drain stopper and the water slowly drained out of the sink and made him very upset. I think it made him more upset that I didn't fill the sink with water again. Who knows what he will find entertaining to do today, but I'm sure he will have a blast doing it.

the end of break

Well, Christmas break is almost over for the girls and I don't think it can come fast enough. Kylie has been asking for the past week when she gets to go back to school. I keep telling her Tuesday, but it just cannot come fast enough for her. I asked her why she was so anxious for school to start back, and she said its because she misses her friends and teachers. Kenzie is ready to go back also. She has worked hard over Christmas break to get all of her spelling words for next week memorized she can ace her test. She said she can't wait till she gets her bonus words so she can get them learned so she can score a 104. I think she also misses her friends also a lot, she just won't mention it.

Gabryle will probably be bored the first week of them back at school. He has gotten used to them being home all day, and having other little ones to play with. However he will probably be glad to have Mommy back to himself while everyone else is at school or work. It will be more quiet with the girls at school again that is for sure. I bet he will be glad though to be able to play with his toys by himself for a while. Especially his new blocks he got at Christmas.


I think Kylie is mostly just ready to show her friends her new clothes that she has gotten over break. Plus I think as much as she will not admit it, enjoys the school lunches better than what I fix for lunch. (Mostly sandwiches over break for lunches at home.) It will be nice though to get back in the normal school schedule again. It is much easier getting Gabryle down for naps while the girls are at school than when they are home. Plus if he doesn't sleep before we pick the girls up I can just leave a little early and drive the long way to school and he falls asleep and will sleep till we get back in the car after the school bell rings and we have the girls in the car.

Gabryle's Story

Gabryle fast asleep a few nights ago
before he got Croup.

Once there was a boy named Gabryle. He started to get a cough, and his parents thought it was just a cold. After a few days the cough got worse and he sounded oh so congested. They decided then to take him to the doctor to have him checked out to be on the safe side.
Gabryle's Mommy took him to the minor emergency clinic and was seen fairly quickly. As soon as they got back to the room they took his temperature and pulse-ox and weight. His temp was at 101 even and his pulse-ox was a 95 and weight was 27.7 pounds. The doctor has at the computer by the scale and went ahead and prescribed a breathing treatment after his full history was taken. The nurse showed us to the exam room and went to get the treatment and nebulizer and a shot of a steroid. We fought with the breathing treatment. Gabryle was not wanting to do it, but Mommy and the nurse did. Ultimately Gabryle's Mommy got most of the first breathing treatment.
He was starting to sound better after it and he took the shot in the leg. He was not a happy camper unfortunately. The doctor ordered a chest/neck x-ray just to make sure nothing was swallowed by chance and to make sure his lungs looked okay. We walked down to the x-ray room and he was not liking having to lay on the board or sitting up while Mommy and the nurses held him to get the pictures needed for the doctor. After about five to ten minutes Gabryle and Mommy were able to go back to the exam room. The x-rays were clear and another breathing treatment was started. This one was a little easier on Mommy. Gabryle laid his head on her chest and drifted off and on to sleep while breathing in the treatment and did not fight as nearly as much.
The doctor came back in and let us know that poor little Gabryle has Croup. Since it is viral no antibiotics will be given, however we will be having him take a steroid for a few days.
Little Gabryle is now home and has had his lunch. His breathing sounds much better and hopefully will be completely back to normal quickly.

Adventures of Potty Training...Part 1.....

Now that Gabryle is 2 we plan on getting him started on potty training. The girls were fairly simple, with Kylie being the easiest of the older 2. When I stopped working a few years ago, the first day I stayed home with them, she started using the potty. If only it were that easy every time!

Gabryle for a while has been afraid of the potty. Maybe not afraid but perhaps intimidated. If you tried to sit him down on either his potty seat, or the large toilet with a training seat on it, he would cry and he could not get up off of it fast enough! To him, the potty chair was a way to get up to the sink in the bathroom to turn the water on so he can play in the water and get his hair all wet.
Today we had a break-through though. I took him into the bathroom just to see if he would sit on it and he would! He sat and grinned about sitting on the potty. Yes he had his diaper on, but hey, he sat on the potty!! He then ran and grabbed a pair of underwear we bought a while ago for when he is ready for them so I put them on and since then he has me go with him every 5-10 minutes to go sit on the potty. I'm all for it, so I make sure we go as soon as he comes and starts pulling me towards the bathroom. I know it won't happen all of a sudden, but if he has started wanting to try then I'm all for it! The sooner he is potty trained the sooner we can get him out of diapers completely!!

Cake Decorations

As October 1 approaches fast, its hard to believe Gabryle will be 2! Since lately he has been into the Toy Story trilogy really big, his birthday will be decorated with Toy Story decorations. I this year have decided as I usually do, to make his Birthday cake. I also have decided to try something new. Make some of the cake decorations out of Royal Icing. I love decorating cakes. When I can I try to make sure to do all the kids birthday cakes, and Jerrod's so I can decorate them. I think it's fun. It's a fun way to be artistic.

 Royal Icing is used to make the tiny decorations you see out of sugar, that are hard, like the happy birthday letters you can find at your local grocery store. Yes it takes a little bit to pipe out all the stars and letters and numbers I need, but in the end I think its worth it. Since we're doing Toy Story I haven't found any letters that I think will go with the cake I will make. (Yes the little yellow blobs in the picture are stars. From this picture they don't look like it to well, but they are stars.) If I can find them, I'll also put a few small figurines from the movie on the cake also as toppers.

The letters are not done yet. I'll add some yellow to them also to tie them in with the number 2 that is finished. I now will just wait to let them dry. It'll take anywhere from overnight to 48 hours for them to completely dry. It all depends on the humidity and temperature and all that wonderful weather. I will also try and make the Toy Story logo as best as I can. (Course not the keyword TRY). I am not keeping my hopes up on that one. The letters, stars, #2 and clouds turned out pretty well I think. When I get the cake finished before his birthday I will make sure and post pictures for you all!!

Kisses, Erasers, & Shh's Oh My!!

Little Gabryle is a handful! Of course, what 23 month old little child is not a handful? From my personal experience all little 23 month old children are handfuls! I would probably be more concerned if he was not a handful.

One of Gabryle's favorite things to do is give hugs and kisses. When Jerrod leaves for work and the girls head to school, Gabryle makes sure to give them kisses. He makes sure and gets his lips all wet and make sure he is all sloppy for sloppy Gribble kisses (Gabryle's nickname is Gribble. Kylie when Gabryle was born could not say Gabryle, but could say Gribble and it stuck).  When he wants some more drink in his sippy cup he always gives me two kisses, one on one cheek and one on the other. At bedtime, I give him his piggy back ride to his bed, put him in bed, and then he runs to the girls room and gives them each at least 1 kiss, sometimes more, then goes back to bed. He even gives his little stuffed blue puppy dog and his Mario kisses.

Since school started we have kept more pencils around the house so the girls have pencils to do their homework after school. They have been in school for five weeks now, and we have gone through almost 2 packs of pencils, all due to the fact that the majority of them have no eraser. For the longest time I was curious as to why they were disappearing, then I found the cause of the problem. Gabryle has learned you can chew off the top of the erasers. NO!!!! Every time I find a pencil with no eraser, whether its a new pencil or old one, I still show Gabryle and tell him no. He just smiles then goes off and does his own thing.
One of the other things that Gabryle loves to do is tell you "Shh!" You can be sitting down somewhere not saying a word and Gabryle runs up to you, puts his finger up to his mouth and go "SHH!!" He then gets a smile and most of the time runs off and does something else then. Other times he will tell you Shh, and you do it back and you have a shh war going on between the two of you. I have even heard Gabryle go up to the girls when they are arguing and tell them to hush. It's funny too when he does come up to you and tell you to "shh", he has the most serious face sometimes. How he can do it without smiling I will never know.
He definitely does not seem to be scared by many things. Just this morning while we were playing outside a bee started buzzing around him, and Gabryle just bent over to the bee while it was buzzing around his shoe and pinched it. It flew off faster than I have seen a bee fly off from someone. It will be interesting to see how much more his personality will come out as he gets older. If he already tries to get people to laugh now, I bet it will be even better as he grows up. Hopefully this little phase of biting off pencil erasers will end very very soon! I know the girls will be glad when they can pick a pencil and not have to search for an eraser before doing what they planned.

Bye-Bye Binkie!!

Gabryle no longer has his binkies!!! YES! That is a big accomplishment for him since he was so attached to them.

Yesterday in the early afternoon Gabryle handed me his binkie and fussed a little. I looked at it and noticed that it was shredded in parts and was about to fall apart. I cut the end off of it and handed it back to him. Jerrod has had a few customers say that to get their children off of the binkie they would slowly cut the end back further and further till there was nothing left on the binkie, so I snipped the end off. I handed it back to him and Gabryle just looked at it like I was crazy for handing him a binkie that was missing part of it. He stuck his finger in the opening and waved it around at me and fused a little then threw it across the living and dining room. (this boy has a good throwing arm!)

We then went and picked the girls up and Gabryle went without his binkie. When we got back home from getting the girls at school he started to fuss a little after picking up his binkie, so I told him to either get his binkie and deal with it or throw it away.  Next thing I know he runs to the bathroom and throws away the binkie in the trash can. That meant to me we would no longer use the binkie since that was the second one in a week he has thrown away.

The big question would be how would he do at bedtime? When it was time to go to bed I put the girls to bed, Gabryle ran in and gave them multiple kisses then went and jumped up in his bed with no crying or fits. He got up a few times to give the girls more kisses and would go lay back down once I came to get him out of the girls room. The last time he laid down he set his head down on the remote control he had in his bed and cried a little. I stepped out of the room and a few minutes later he was quiet and asleep with no binkie!!!!!! I was thrilled he actually did it!

Around midnight however he woke up and was up for the rest of the night it seemed. He cried for a while and I couldn't calm him down in his bed so he came and laid with me and Jerrod for a little bit. It helped until he started pointing to his room. I took him back and he was quiet for a little bit then he started crying again. This went on a few times till I finally just sat up with him in the living room. Jerrod sat with us for a little bit then went to bed since he has to work today. Finally around four I laid down on the couch and Gabryle came cuddling up next to me and was out by 4:30 AM. I got up, put him to bed and he was down till this morning when I got the girls up for school at 6:45.

During his time being awake in the middle of the night he fussed a little pointing at the bathroom. Jerrod and I looked for one of his old binkies and handed it to him after Jerrod found it and he just threw it across to the coffee table. At one point he pulled a wipe out and cleaned it off but then set it back down. Once he stuck it in his mouth but quickly pulled it out and threw it. He ultimately never wanted the binkie apparently. IT stayed within eye sight of him but he never put it back in his mouth and kept it.

As of right now I have no clue where it ended up last night. All I do know is he has gone almost 24 hours with no binkie and is doing fairly well without it. No more will be bought in this household. Hopefully he will do better tonight in the middle of the night and actually sleep.  I'll give it a few more days with no binkie and then we will start with potty training.

Quiet Days

Since the girls are in school during the days till three and Jerrod works days, its usually just Gabryle and I during the day at home. Gabryle is so easy going I usually don't have to help him find things to do during the day. The only time I really have to help do anything is when its lunch  time, he needs a drink or can't get some toy down from a spot he can't reach.

Most of the time, Gabryle eats breakfast with the girls in the morning before they leave for school. That way when they leave he is all through and he is ready to go! He usually watches a couple of his cartoons on PBS in the morning, or we stick a Thomas and Friends on netflix and he is occupied for a while. If he gets bored with that he goes and plays in his room. He'll sit in his floor and play with trucks and cars or get his brobie dancing toy and play with it. Sometimes he will go and find Kylie's barbies or Kenzies DS and play with them. (how sad is it that a 22 month old boy can figure out how to play a DS)

I get a lot done during the day around the house that needs to get done while the girls are in school. Since Gabryle can keep himself busy with things. Some things he helps me with, like straightening the living room, getting the laundry sorted in the kids bathroom to wash and making sure the trash is picked up in the bathroom. His favorite thing to do though is help vacuum. He will unravel the cord for me to plug in and then when I tell him he turns the vacuum on then sometimes helps me push it. Other times he loves to just run up to the vacuum and giggle at it and let it "attack" his toes and then runs off laughing.

There are a few days though that Gabryle and I just kind of lounge around the house and have fun all day till we need to get the girls. I honestly think that is his favorite part of the day considering when I say its time to get the girls he is at the door in a heartbeat waiting for me to get my purse and stuff. I think he likes having Mom all to himself for most of the day. I can tell though that he does like being able to play with all the toys in the house by himself not having to share for a while.

Learning some sign language....sort of

The past few weeks, the kids have watched a TV series on PBS called Signing time. It's a simple education show, that involves teaching kids American Sign Language. It has Rachel, the Mom, teaching sign language, with the help of her daughter Leah, who is deaf, and nephew Alex who can hear. She goes through a series of signs throughout the thirty minute program, each episode based on different sets of signs, ex: school, home, family etc. etc. etc.

Gabryle has lately really gotten into the show and the past few days has started using some of the signs he has been watching. One sign particularly Gabryle has been using more than others. I will admit I don't spend the entire thirty minutes watching the show with the kids, and I now have found myself really wishing I had. I know I have picked up some of the sign language, but not as much as the kids.

We were in Wal-Mart tonight and Gabryle started showing us the sign he keeps on using the past few days. He holds his right hand out flat, palm up and then uses his left hand with his pointer finger, tapping his right hand. As far as I can tell, looking online at different websites, he is either signing Dance or Jump. He loves to dance, so if that what he is signing that doesn't surprise me. He loves to dance. We asked Kylie what she thinks it is since she has picked up the most from the show, and she believes he is also signing dance (she told us that before I started to even look up what the sign he is doing means).

I'll still try to find more images of sign language signs to see if I can figure something else out, but from now on I  believe I will start watching Signing time with a lot more attention than I previously have. If any of you have a suggestion as to what Gabryle is signing, I'm more than happy to know! The sign language he is learning will be a great asset to him later on. It will be great he knows how to sign, and it is especially helpful since he doesn't know all the words he needs too, to be able to express what he is wanting or needing from us.

It's also great for the girls to, too learn how to do sign language. Kylie so far has picked up the most out of all three of the kids. If you give her something to learn, she soaks it up like a sponge. It will be interesting if she uses the sign language at school also. If I figure out what Gabryle has been signing I'll make sure and put it up here that I finally actually figured out what he is telling us.

Teaching Gabryle New Words.

Kylie has been on a kick lately to teach Gabryle to learn how to say  a lot of new words.  She will walk up to him and say "Gabryle, say sissy" or "Gabryle say Mackenzie." (He can say Kylie's nickname, KyKy.)  She is bound and determined to get him to say a new word and it be her the one who made it happen. She was the one who taught him to say KyKy and Night Night, so I can understand her wanting to teach him how to say more words.

It's hard to get her to understand that he will learn to say more words in his own time. She sometimes gets so frustrated and will stomp off when he won't say what she wants him to say. I think Gabryle thinks its just a game she plays with him. She asks him to say something, and he will either say it if he can say the word, or if it is something he cannot say, he will say something he can, or just make a funny noise at her.

We all have been working with Gabryle to say Mackenzie's name or at least sissy, so we know who he wants without him having to point at her. I have a feeling once the girls start back to school, he will start talking a lot more and pick up a lot more words then. With two big sisters around who would need to talk when you have two people who talk for you. He will talk when he is ready to. He can let us know more and more what he wants whether it is pointing at something or going and getting it himself if it is in his reach. He even sometimes will take my hand or one of the girls hands and take us to show us what he is needing.

Until he talks more, I just keep telling Kylie he will talk more when is ready to talk more.  She will catch on soon enough that when he ready he will talk.

The Con's of a Toddler Bed

Gabryle has been in a toddler bed for about six months now, which is great, but a the same time has it's disadvantages. I love how in the mornings he can get himself out of bed and go play and wake up his big sisters, and during the day he loves to go and sit in his bed while looking at books or playing with toys. However for the past few weeks, he has learned to get up in the middle of the night to try and get up in bed with Jerrod and I.

Last night has been the worst for him not staying in bed so far. Jerrod and I were up late watching movies, and about 1:15-1:20 in the middle of the night in walks Gabryle. He crawled up with me on the sofa and fell back asleep while we finished our movie. I changed his diaper since he was dirty and then put him back to bed. That may have been my mistake to start with. After that Jerrod and I went to bed then in walks in casually Gabryle. We let him lay in our bed for a few minutes and then I took him back to bed, laid him down and give him kisses then went back to my room. A few minutes later, in comes Gabryle again. I take him back to his room and this goes on a few times. The last time I took him, I sat beside his bed and rubbed the top of his head for about ten minutes  till he had seemed to be back asleep then slipped out of the kids room and went and laid down again.

Needless to say he came back in our room about five minute later. By the time we were done going back and forth between our room and his and Kylie's room it was a little after four in the morning.  By the time I fell asleep it was closer to four thirty. Luckily the next time he woke up was after seven thirty, which is around the normal time he gets up. He went and pestered Kenzie and she got up and played with him.

Hopefully this waking up in the middle of the night will pass soon. If not I am still not sure what to do to get him out of his habit of coming in our room to try and sleep. I'll try and shorten his nap time today and see how that goes for him. I put him to bed later than we usually do, thinking that would help, but I was wrong.

This is my life.

Some people think with three kids you have nothing to do but boy are they wrong! I am a wife and a stay at home mom of three beautiful children. Our oldest Mackenzie is 6 years old, loves tball and sports and being outdoors. Kylie is our middle child, who is 4 and is as girly as you can get. Our youngest, is Gabryle he will turn 2 in October, and is just as much of a handful as his two older sisters.

With these three children, you could not find more different personalities than anywhere else. One thing in common though is they all seem to get along for the most part very well together.

 Mackenzie is our little tomboy, who loves jeans and tshirts, loves to watch some sports and absolutly loves horses. She will always find a way for all three of them to play a game together, wether it is from playing tag or hide and seek, to playing horsey or school.  She is the ring-leader of them all, always trying to be the boss and finding things to do.

Kylie loves being the little girly-girl princess. She loves her dresses and playing dress up and trying her hardest to get me to let her wear make-up.  She has a stuffed pink monkey that she has had since she was a few days old that I bought her, and it is her most valued possession that she has. It goes every where with her when we go some place and it most definatly goes to bed with her at night.

Gabryle is the little know-it-all. He loves being around his sisters and trying to make everyone laugh. He watches everything around him and picks up on learning things so quickly, sometimes it seems hard to keep up with what all he has learned to do. His most favorite thing to do lately is do flips in the floor with his sisters and play outside in the sprinkler.

This blog will be about day to day things that happen in our household. It will highlight the good and bad times that happen here at home. I may not make daily entries, but hopefully I will make them fairly often.
